Lumbre
Warm, direct and useful. Hours, menu and a table, each one tap away.
The brief
Lumbre is a restaurant we invented: wood-fire cooking in a lime-washed room on the Spanish coast, with fish from the morning boats and a menu that follows the season.
Most guests find a place like this on their phone, often on the same day. They want three answers, fast: are you open, what is cooking, and can I get a table?
So the site is built around those three questions. The status comes first, the menu is real text rather than a PDF, and booking takes a few taps without leaving the page.

- About this concept
- Lumbre is a fictional brand. Its identity, content and website were created by Neyroline to show the kind of work we do. It is not client work.
Three questions, answered first
Are you open?
The answer is one line, in words: open now and when the kitchen closes, or when it opens next. No timetable to decode.
It uses Madrid time, whatever time zone your device is set to, so it is right wherever you are reading this. The full week is one tap away.
Checking today’s hours.

What’s cooking?
A short menu, written as text. It loads instantly, can be read aloud and translated, and the kitchen can change a dish in a minute.
Two filters cover the questions guests ask most. Every dish carries its tags in words, not symbols.

Can I get a table?
Guests, date, time and two fields, all in one view. Closed days and full times are shown, not hidden, so nobody picks a slot that fails later.
Larger groups are pointed to the phone, where a restaurant would rather plan them anyway.
On a phone, on the same day
Open or closed comes first
The status sits right under the header, above the photo. It is the question most visits start with, so it gets the first line of the screen.
Made for one hand
Booking is taps, not typing: a stepper for guests, a row of dates, buttons for times. The keyboard only appears for name and phone, and Book stays pinned while you scroll.
Targets of 48 pixels
Every button, filter, date and time is at least 48 pixels tall with space around it, so a thumb lands where it means to, even while walking.
Design decisions
Typography
Bricolage Grotesque: warm, a little irregular, and chunky when condensed for the lowercase wordmark. At reading sizes it opens back up, so dish names and prices stay clear on a phone, even as light text on a dark ground, where thin type starts to break up.
Bricolage Grotesque, 800, 75% width
Whole sea bream€28
Grilled on the bone over oak embers.
600 and 400, 100% width
Colour
A warm room at night. The ground is ember night, the warm black of the dining room once the lights go down, with charcoal for anything raised. Ash is the text, at 14.5:1, and every grey leans warm, so the page feels lit by a fire rather than a screen.
Saffron is the firelight and the one accent: the fill behind actions, chosen dates and times, and the open now label, always with ember night text on it (8.3:1). Stone is the secondary text and still reaches 6.6:1 on charcoal.

Practical details
The menu is text, not a PDF. The hours are one glance away on every screen. Booking happens on the page, with closed days and full times visible before you choose. Small things, and the reason a guest books here instead of somewhere else.
